Art Biennale 2026

Venice Art Biennale 2026 (61st International Art Exhibition)

 Dates and schedule

  • Open to the public: from 9 May to 22 November 2026
  • Previews: pre-opening on 6, 7, and 8 May 2026
  • Venues: the main Biennale sites are the Giardini della Biennale, the Arsenale, and collateral venues located throughout the city of Venice.

 Theme and curator

  • The 61st Exhibition, curated by Koyo Kouoh (one of the most important international curators of contemporary art), is titled “In Minor Keys".
  • Kouoh, who sadly passed away in 2025, had already defined the concept and organization of the exhibition; the project will continue according to her vision, with the support of the team she selected.

 Meaning of the theme

  • The title “In Minor Keys” evokes an exploration of art through subtler, more reflective, and non-dominant registers, akin to minor keys in music — offering a sensitive and alternative perspective on global artistic narratives.

 Participations and programme

  • As usual, the exhibition includes National Participations with official pavilions at the Giardini and the Arsenale, as well as Collateral Events promoted by international institutions across the city of Venice

 Tickets and opening hours

  • Typical summer opening hours are from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. (with variations and extended hours in some cases).
  • Information on prices and ticket types (single entry, day passes, multi-day tickets) is available on the official website.
